LAS VEGAS — Law enforcement around the valley will be out in force over the next few weeks for the biggest DUI enforcement effort ever in the Las Vegas area.
The enforcement will continue through the Labor Day weekend. Officers from every jurisdiction will be at checkpoints. In addition, officers will be stationed around the valley looking for people who’ve been drinking and are driving.
“As we approach the Labor Day weekend it’s my understanding that you’re probably going to see the biggest series of checkpoints that’s been seen anywhere in the U.S,” said Sgt. Kevin Honea, NHP.
After having fewer deadly accidents in the first six months of the year, NHP says it’s seen a spike of accidents since May. They say they want to get ahead of that trend and make sure everyone is safe on the roads over the holiday weekend.
