Yesterday was a great day we got up as normal ate breakfast with some family and got ready to go to the races. We drove to the Las Vegasmotor speedway and talked all the way there, we were wondering what it was going to be like when the Indy cars take the track. I am a Nascar fan and I know when they race it is a great race but when I saw the Indy cars go bye I knew this is going to be a nail biter. These cars were going 223 mph every lap and being bunched up together, if one driver makes a little mistake there is going to be a big ACCIDENT and someone is going to get hurt or even killed. I have to say it was really exciting seeing the cars go bye so fast and that I could not believe my eyes. Around lap 11 there was a puff of smoke that came out of a car in turn 1 and then it happened a big red flash in the middle of turns 1 and 2. Cars were going every were upside down and hitting the walls and flying into the catch fence, it was the worst accident I have ever seen. I was in turn 4 at-least a 1/4 of mile away from the accident and I felt like it was right in front of me, everybody around me were yelling and pointing to the wreck. The safety crews got to the accident as fast as they could and started to there jobs not know what they were going to see. When the accidentfinally came to a stop we all new that someone has been hurt or killed. My stomach started to turn and I started to cry. We watched the fire crews clean up the mess and waited to hear if everybody was ok. The announcer came on the air and said every racer was breathing but he has not heard about Dan Wheldon. We sat there in dis-belief and wondered if Dan was ok? About an hour and half has gone by and the announcer started to talk. He said that Indy car driver Dan Wheldon has passed away resulting from this accident. We all knew that he was seriously hurt but had no idea he was killed. Many of you know me and I never write this much but I wanted you to know how serious this was and that accidents can happen to anybody and any time.
Please pass this on and keep Dan Wheldon’s family in your prayers, we have lost a wonderful father, husband, and just great person.
